Identifying Yourself Through Social Media

Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Blogger, Digg, Delicious, Mixx, YouTube, GChat, Propeller, Stumble Upon, Justin.tv...just to name a few.

This is a list of all of the different social media websites I have used just
TODAY! Every where you turn, there are articles on how social media websites are changing business and communication. Time magazine wrote an article on The Future of Work discussing how jobs and the way we find jobs will change. Business is changing!

You have your Twitter friends that you only know though tweets, Digg fans that only know you through a URL, Facebook groups with millions of fans...and you are supposed to find your
Brand Identity from all of this stuff!

Through all the clutter...you have to discover your career goals, interests and brand yourself for the world to see (the Internet world, of course).

I offer
3 tips to help maintain your brand identity:

1. Stay true to yourself and your personal goals...That's what will make you stick out from the crowd.

2. Keep everything in check. If you are getting overwhelmed, take a step back, take a deep breath, one day off won't hurt you...your "friends" will be there when you return.

3. Share yourself, your interests, your ideas, your skills with others and they will answer.

If there's one things I've learned about social media in the past few weeks, it's that people want to help you. They want to digg your blog, RT you, connect with you on LinkedIn.

Everyone is building a brand and YOU can help.
